An agricultural worker from Mexico was killed on Christmas Day in Dover, Florida, in unincorporated Hillsborough County.

At about six o’clock on Christmas, the 20-year-old strawberry picker, in the US legally, was riding a bicycle when he was killed by a hit-and-run driver, WTSP News reported. Investigators say the car stopped momentarily and then kept going, leaving the scene of the accident, a felony in Florida.

The young man frequently rode his bicycle to a market near the fields where he worked to purchase phone cards to call his family in rural Mexico.

Investigators are looking for a green sedan with windshield damage.
